Mountains, Islands and Seas of the Inner Landscape
« on: February 13, 2007, 02:15:50 PM »
I just felt like moving my mountains, islands and oceans fantasy over from Kaleidoscope into here...maybe I can rework it or reference it...maybe just moving some of my more cherished stuff from the old forum to the new...lol

Any comments are welcome...this is a kind of waking dream I produced awhile back...

_____

I'm going to try and draw a picture...or rather describe a movie...the latest in my reflections of the process of ego development...

Draw a large circle and fill it in with black...this is the original unconscious state...

Next as time progresses image a faint star appearing and disappearing...

Now another in another location...then another...

More frequently now...some appear in different locations...closer together...

The points of the star seem to gradually lengthen until a pair of stars touches...

This increases in frequency until two, then three touch forming a tiny web...

Then a new thing happens...some of these reappearing groups of stars don't fade out all the way...they persist...they grow brighter and do not fade so much...this is the budding of ego consciousness out of the mother unconscious...

Now there are two alternate stories here...I will follow the "focused consciousness" one (versus "diffused consciousness" (can you guess what book I just started to read?)):

There are several groups of little star systems all connected together.  But one eventually grows brighter and brighter while the others near it dissipate or become absorbed.  Now there is a beautiful, organic network of stars with a ebb and waning of light against the dark background.  This web of stars sits off to one side or the other of the center of the big black circle.

Looking more closely at this gradually growing crop of connected stars there are spaces in between where the blackness is now turning into gray.  In fact, as time goes on the star light which, at first, seemed to radiate out of the darkness now seems to radiate out from little canyons between growing pillars of gray.

This growing grey, cracked mountain with light streaming out from the cracks grows until it takes up just under half of the space on the circle.  Where the mountain meets the blackness it has sloped downwards and volcanicly created islands do, at some places steeply with cliffs and at other places gradually with smooth transitions like great sandy beaches.

At first one climbed the mountain to escape the raging blackness of the sea.  Later, with confidence more established and with fascination for that once raging sea, one now finds one's self more along the shore than on the high mountaintops.  Suddenly, one day, the mountain top begins to explode with fire.  Burning ash is falling from the sky...clouds form and tornados brew.

You find another smaller island out across the black sea a short distance.  You work to make connections to that island or try to row a boat over to it.  You call itl Shadow island because it is like a little shadow of your own island.  Your own island you call Ego island because it is your home in the circle of the psyche.  When the volcano erupts you find peace in journeying to the Shadow island.  In the process you come in close contact with the black sea which begins to clear and become, let's say, more like clear water in a tropical land.  As your comfort grows in rowing back and forth to Shadow island you find yourself becoming more familiar with the sea and what lies beneath.

Over time the mountain begins to crumble and the sea becomes more shallow, less black.  Now the great mother psyche circle is more like a series of islands, some connected and some not.  From an eagle's eye view one can see that the star web has grown more or less out over the entire black circle.  The web is thicker in some places than in others.  There are a few black spots but there is more grey and blue and all shades in between.

So the bottom of the seas rise and the mountaintops crumble, but Ego island is still standing and the smaller Shadow island, but are surrounded by innumerable children islands throughout the circle.  One walks across the land and swims in the sea never too far from recognizable landmark but also not too far from some still dark mystery.

This land is the inner landscape of the Self as developed over a lifetime in a masculine, "focused consciousness" way.

Hi Sealchan,

When I read your post I thought of 2 books I have entitled THE ANCIENT SECRET OF THE FLOWER OF LIFE, vols. 1 & 2 by Drunvalo Melchizidek. He also has his own website.

2 drawings follow your own train of thought. The following is THE FLOWER OF LIFE symbol:

And the following is the drawing which manifested THE FLOWER OF LIFE symbol, surprise, surprise:

Underneath this drawing was written:

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

This came from the following website:   www.mendhak.com/paranormal/parascience and click on SACRED GEOMETRY to see the full progression of drawings.

I just love how the asterisk symbol (bringing to mind your LAND BENEATH THE WAVES dream!!!) begins everything...

Does all this relay the map of consciousness?

Are you seeing in the complexification of the landscape something that has evolved into the Flower of Life kind of form?

Seeing that asterisk once more (and having read the page you put the link in for (which was very interesting)), I recall another significant occurrence of the asterisk...in my Masters thesis!  In an earlier draft, I had included, as a second illustration, the x, y, z axes of the Cartesian coordinate system which would appear in two-dimensions as an asterisk.

My Masters thesis...

http://www.geocities.com/sealchan/depth.htm

...was an attempt to say something about the nature of consciousness by analyzing what is meant by "depth".  This thesis was very difficult to write because it had a kind of "Flower of Life" logic to it that didn't dispose itself to a linear, logical treatment.  In essense, I think this essay is the creative fleshing out of a symbol, the archetypal meaning of "depth".  So my finding the asterisk in my Land Beneath the Waves dream may correspond with the work I did on my Masters' thesis.  I mapped the idea of depth onto mysticism, cosmology, neurobiology and psychophysics.

I also am fond of the interpretation I made in Land Beneath the Waves of the asterisks in satellite view/map as finding the pattern behind the natural development.  I look at the wild and look for the consistent.  The asterisk is both the pattern and the "sign", perhaps, for the pattern.  Almost a symbol for the idea of symbol itself.  This is, perhaps, a focused refinement of an intuitive thinking style attempt at a Self image.

Maps translate the natural and emergently organic works of humans into a precise language of signs.  I say signs in the sense of how Jung differentiates signs and symbols.  Commonly one would describe the 'signs' on a map as map 'symbols'.

Thanks again Susanna for keying me into more associations.  You get a gold star...er, gold asterisk.  lol

Hi Sealchan,

The entire progression/emergence of THE FLOWER OF LIFE symbol mirrors creation. The book of Genesis in the Bible is explained in detail according to Sacred Geometry in the book THE ANCIENT SECRET OF THE FLOWER OF LIFE by Drunvalo Melchizidek. When God said, "Let there be light", Light means consciousness.

Consciousness has been defined in many ways, and I will address more under the CONSCIOUSNESS child board since I would like to hear everyone's take on what meaning(s) it has for you all.

And what intrigues me is that the asterisk drawing here , to me, IS a symbol for consciousness, it details the formation of consciousness by God. And how the asterisk is a star, and how the star emits light...how perfect...and of course there is your star-shaped man, the homunculus. BTW I was reading that in Vedantic literature a little man is believed to reside in our heart center. 'He' is our inner guide, and shall I say our pure consciousness...

I think the asterisk would make a great symbol or avatar? for you, symbolizing your endeavors and profound interest in the subject of consciousness.  I guess I'd like to see what avatar you would choose, hint, hint.

The asterisk drawing on the website I mentioned is not the beginning of THE FLOWER OF LIFE symbol, it's just part of the progression, I don't want to mislead you. I don't know if Sacred Geometry is part of college curriculum, perhaps it is nowadays, but it is well worth the investigation into it.

Sacred Geometry, to me, is like metaphysical Math. It explains the order of the universe amidst the 'chaos' of life. What's also fascinating to me is that many major passages and people (ex. Jacob's Ladder, the 12 apostles) in the Bible can be explained in physiological terms, represented within the anatomy of man. Esoteric studies relay these connections. It all points the way toward man's ascension.

I will read your thesis. So nice of you to share it.

Thanks for the gold asterisk. ;)
