This article (a) exposes some unnoticed implications of Jung’s
compensation theory of dreams, (b) integrates it with some facts discovered
after Jung’s time, (c) thereby makes that theory more useful in
understanding the meaning and function of dreams, and also (d) points
to the applicability of the same theory to Jungian psychotherapy in more
ways than dream interpretation.
